Few Tips On How To Care Of Your Car Air Conditioning System

June 20, 2010 · Posted in Home Care · Comment

We do enjoy the cool and comfort provided by our car air conditioner, but we hardly think about taking proper care of it. However, it should be realized that with a little care and maintenance we can actually improve the efficiency of our car air conditioner to a large degree.

The Drive Belt

The work of the drive belt is to make the compressor of the air conditioner turn. This in turn maintains the circulation of the refrigerant as it should be. Now if the belt is not at its best condition and is instead worn, with stretch marks and cracks appearing on it, it can just slip from the thread or break. The result would be that the compressor will get stuck and the air conditioner would stop cooling the surroundings. Make sure that you regularly check the condition of the drive belt, and if you find it with considerable wear and tear you would know that it is time for replacement of the drive belt.

The Condenser

The condenser has cooling fins inside it and the refrigerant runs through the condenser. The air flows across the cooling fins so that it can remove the heat from the circulating refrigerant.

If dirt and debris plugs up the cooling fins it will restrict the air flow and hence heat from the refrigerant cannot be removed. Your car also might get overheated due to any such restrictions. To take proper care of the fins, all you got to do is check them periodically to see if they are clean and in proper condition.

Signs of Problem

If you find the carpet of your car getting wet during the summer months, then the indication is that the air conditioner drain isn’t functioning properly. Had it been in the best condition you would have seen water dripping to the pavement you park your car on.

If you feel any vibration or there is some kind of unusual noise whenever you put the fan on, the hint could be that there is debris in the blower fan.

If the amount of air coming out of the vents seems reduced, then it might be because the evaporator of the air conditioner is freezing. This problem crops up mostly when you have driven your car for a while.

The sensible heat of the air that is reduced is actually converted to latent heat as the water from the wet cooler pads is evaporated absorbing heat from the air. The drier the air that enters the device, the better are the results. the good thing about these devices is that they are relatively cheaper than the regular air conditioners and the maintenance is also hassle free.

There are plenty other such problems. This has only been an introduction.

Air Purifiers : Do They Really Work?

Anyone buying an air purifier at that time. The buzz has been discussed as the air in our homes and offices too polluted for us to breathe and remain healthy. So we need air we breathe clean. But its pretty good air purifier to purify the air? A discussion followed on the quality of indoor air and if we need an air purifier or not.

Evaluation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The EPA, California-based research on air purifiers for years and their tests showed that the air filter is not perfect and there are always particles or pollutants in the air, that is not surrounded by the air filter. So no right to clean air you need a 100% protection. If they do, they are really trying to sell you a bluff.

They also noted that it is preferable for a central air cleaner instead of standalone air purifier in a room of the house. It is logical that the air we breathe evenly throughout the house and not only in a white room. And the house must be ventilated air cleaner to work better. One thing must be remembered here, and the air filter is not effective against certain gases like carbon monoxide or radon. These gases are not in houses well ventilated. They are very dangerous and can kill.

EPA recommends HEPA air purifiers, which are ideally placed in the middle of the house to be used as a stand alone machine, not the central air filter. It will not cost you anything between $ 100 to $ 2,000, price fluctuations largely depend on the difference in capacity of the air filter.

Those cons

There are a number of air purifiers do more harm than good, because the maintenance release of ozone ionic air purifiers in the air. There are also claims that the ionic air purifiers are ineffective when there is clean air.

Although the dispute over the release of ozone has a value and a more detailed analysis, but to say that cleaning does not clean is not true. Yes, they are missing some parts, but they purify the air of much of the pollutants.

Finally, we can ensure that the total effective air filter, although it may still be scope for improving the technology for better results bereiken.

FAQ About Air Purifiers

How serious is the problem of indoor air quality?

Strange as it may sound, the quality of indoor air, a serious threat to our health. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have a warning that the quality of indoor air is, America’s largest environmental problem. It is shocking to know that indoor air is actually 2-10 times more polluted than outdoor air. A direct consequence of the steady increase in asthma and hay fever in recent years.

air purifiers indoors are a cure for asthma?

No they are not. The truth is, there is no absolute remedy against asthma. There are drugs, but they come back, but much of the asthma symptoms occur. These drugs have side effects long term. It is a direct link between the problems of asthma and the air we breathe. The more pollutants into the air, the higher the risk of asthma attacks. Air purifiers have a role to play. Since they are capable of air must be cleaned to a large extent, the air we breathe is clean and a person with asthma have a better chance to prevent asthma attacks.

Air purifiers are better than HEPA air purifier?

When talking strictly about the cleaning capabilities of both the vacuum and HEPA air purifiers are much better than air. HEPA air cleaners are designed for 99.97 percent of impurities in the air to catch the more than 0.3 micrometers. ionic air purifier can in no way commensurate with their capacities.

However, ionic air purifiers do not produce as much noise as HEPA air purifiers. Technology dictates that ionic air purifiers are silent. In a family where no member suffering from severe respiratory diseases, an ionic air purifier is good enough.

What factors cause you to buy an air filter?

When purchasing an air purifier are some things you should consider. You must first learn the dimensions of your room better. The size of the room that will determine the options you need in the air.

So you know what type of filter you need. If anyone has serious respiratory problems should opt for a HEPA air filter. Alternatively, a filter.

There are a number of air purifiers do more harm than good, because not maintain the ozone ionic air purifiers release into the air. There are also claims that the ionic air purifiers are ineffective if it comes to cleaning the air.

Other things you need the warranty, availability of spare pars, etc.

Where to Place Your Air Purifier?

As pollution levels increase all over the world the air we breathe in is getting more toxic by the day. One would say that it doesn’t feel that bad. But the fact is, things are really getting out of hand if don’t take immediate action. Worse is, indoor air seems to be more polluted than outdoor air. Recent studies are indicating that. And we spend over 90% of our time indoors. So it is imperative that we do something now. And many Americans have already taken the matter into their own hands. They are installing air purifiers in their homes.

The air purifier industry has been growing at breakneck speed and they are going on innovating their products. One integral part to their innovation is styling. An air purifier occupies a significant portion of your room and since it has to be placed out in the open for it to function, hiding it somewhere is not an option. So there are two issues here – one, it has to be aesthetically pleasing, and two, it got to work properly too.

Many people have an issue with this, as to where exactly should they place their air purifier. The simplest solution is to place it right at the middle of the room. That way the air purifier is at its most efficient. It can draw in air equally from all sides of the room and it can also release cleansed air evenly throughout the room. However, this is not exactly feasible for most people. Imagine having an air purifier right at the center of the sofas you have. An air purifier replacing a center table! That will be ghastly.

Of course you have to place it at one corner of the room. The fan inside the purifier creates a vacuum and draws in the air from the room. When placed at one corner it will draw in air from a single direction only and it will release the air also in the same direction. This might take a bit more time than it would have if it was placed at the centre of the room, but it will at least be not intruding into the space you and your family share.

There are also times when you need to consider the room before you are buying an air purifier. Suppose if you are buying one for you bedroom you might not like it to emit too much of a sound. Noisy air coolers can be a problem. But then again, someone might like the white noise as they go to sleep. So take all this factors into consideration before you buy an air purifier.
